XMB is open-source forum software that runs on PHP with a MySQL database. It is designed to be straightforward to set up while allowing extensive customisation through themes and modifications. Robert Chapin has led development since May 2008, and the project is overseen by The XMB Group. It is distributed under the GPL.

XMB requirements
- PHP: PHP 8.2 or higher for XMB 1.10; XMB 1.9.12 is the documented alternative for older PHP, with a minimum of PHP 7.0
- Database: MySQL 5.5.8 or newer (MySQL 8.0 to 8.4 fully supported)
- PHP MySQL extension (cURL and GD2 recommended)
XMB needs only PHP with the MySQL extension and a MySQL database, which standard cPanel accounts provide. Version 1.10 requires PHP 8.2 or newer, so choose a suitable PHP version in cPanel.
