What is AEF?
AEF, or Advanced Electron Forums, is a free bulletin board application written in PHP and MySQL by the AEF Group. It offers themes, languages, an admin panel, a news system and shoutbox. It has not had a release since 2011 on Softaculous, so it should be treated as unmaintained.
Project status: The latest release on Softaculous is 1.0.9 from May 2011, and the most recent commit on the GitHub repository is dated June 2017 (README edits). The official anelectron.com site returned a server error when checked, and Softaculous user reviews describe the project as inactive. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.

- PHP: PHP 5.0 or higher (5.1.0 or higher recommended), per the GitHub README

Its documented requirements are only PHP and MySQL. With no release since 2011 and an inactive project, it is unlikely to be compatible with current PHP versions or receive security patches.
