What is Handesk?
Handesk is an open-source help desk application built on the Laravel PHP framework, published on GitHub under the MIT licence. It provides ticketing for multiple teams and users, plus lead management. Support teams use it to turn incoming email into tickets, collaborate on replies and track ratings, with a REST API for integration.
Project status: The latest tagged release on the official GitHub repository (BadChoice/handesk) is 1.4.3 from July 2021, with no newer release; the repository is not archived and shows occasional commits, the latest seen in August 2025. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.

Handesk requirements
- PHP: 7.4+ (composer.json, Laravel 8)
- Database: Relational database configured through the .env file (MySQL is commonly used)
- PHP IMAP extension
- Composer (for dependency management)
