What is Ampache?
Ampache is an open-source web application for streaming and managing your own audio and video collection. It reads music and video from catalogs, uses tag metadata to organise them, and streams to browsers and compatible client apps on phones, tablets and computers. It has been free software since 2001 and is licensed under AGPLv3.

Ampache requirements
- PHP: Ampache 8 requires PHP 8.5 or newer; Ampache 6 and 7 support PHP 8.2 to 8.4 (per the project README)
- Database: MySQL 8.x or later / MariaDB 10.x or later (per installation docs)
- PHP extensions: curl, dom, fileinfo, gd, gettext, hash, iconv, intl, json, libxml, mbstring, openssl, PDO, PDO_MYSQL, session, simplexml, xml, zip, zlib
- Composer 2 for dependency management
- URL rewriting (streaming and API stop working without it)
- Cron jobs for catalog updates and maintenance
- Optional transcoding tools such as ffmpeg, lame and flac
