What is Matomo?
Matomo, formerly known as Piwik, is an open-source web analytics platform used as an alternative to Google Analytics. You install it on your own server to collect and analyse visitor data while keeping ownership of that data. It is written in PHP and MySQL, and can be self-hosted or used as a cloud service.

- PHP: 8.1 or newer for the current release line (per the current README and requirements page)
- Database: MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.6+ (current release line)
- PDO and PDO_MySQL, or MySQLi
