What is Hablator?
Hablator is a chat script written in PHP and JavaScript, released under the GPL by Max Shinn. It lets visitors talk in real time on your own site, with separate discussion topics, file uploads, typing indicators and optional text translation. Its author says it is no longer actively developed.
Project status: The official Hablator page states the project is no longer under active development; the last release listed there dates from September 2009. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.

Its documentation describes a PHP and JavaScript script with a choice of flat-file, MySQL or SQLite storage, so it does not need special server access. Because the project is no longer developed, security patches should not be expected.
