What is Kimai?
Kimai is a self-hosted, open-source time-tracking application for freelancers, companies and organisations. It records timesheets, produces reports and exports, and generates invoices. It is developed in the open on GitHub by the Kimai project under the AGPL licence and receives frequent releases.

Kimai requirements
- PHP: PHP 8.2 or newer
- Database: MariaDB 10.6+ or MySQL 8.4+
- PHP extensions: gd, intl, json, mbstring, pdo, tokenizer, xml, xsl, zip
- Must be served from its own domain or subdomain, not a subdirectory
- Standard install uses SSH with Git and Composer; official docs also list shared-hosting deployment
Kimai needs PHP 8.2+, a recent MariaDB or MySQL and its own domain or subdomain. Its documentation says the standard install relies on console commands, so use the Softaculous installer rather than FTP-only setup.
