What is GNU social?
GNU social is a free-software microblogging and social networking platform written in PHP, part of the GNU project. It lets communities post status updates and federate with other servers via OStatus and ActivityPub. The project has had no development activity since late 2022, so it is effectively unmaintained.
Project status: The last release listed by Softaculous and Wikipedia is 1.20.9 (June 2019). The repository on Codeberg shows its last commit on 25 November 2022, and Wikipedia describes both the v2 and v3 branches as no longer developed. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.
