Winter CMS is a free, self-hosted content management system built on the Laravel PHP framework. It began as a fork of October CMS in 2021 and is maintained by Luke Towers and the Frostbyte Foundation. Developers use it for prototyping and building sites with plugins, themes, and an editor-friendly backend.

Winter CMS requirements
- PHP: PHP 8.1 or above; 8.2 or newer recommended
- Database: MySQL 5.7+, MariaDB 10.2+, PostgreSQL 9.6+, SQLite 3.8.8+ or SQL Server 2017+
- PHP extensions: cURL, GD, Mbstring, OpenSSL, PDO, SimpleXML, ZipArchive
- Cron job for scheduled tasks and queue processing
