How much does web hosting cost in India?

The price on a hosting advert is rarely the amount you end up paying each year. This guide breaks the cost of running a website into its parts, so you can compare hosts on the full number instead of the headline one.

The four things you pay for

The hosting plan. Shared cPanel hosting at Hostripples starts at ₹129.00 a month on the longest term. WordPress hosting starts at ₹127.00 a month and Windows hosting at ₹170.00 a month.
The domain name. A .com costs ₹1,349.00 for the first year and ₹1,437.00 a year after that. A .in costs ₹862.00 for the first year.
GST. Prices on our plan pages are shown before GST. 18% GST is added at checkout, so budget for it.
Extras. SSL certificates, backups, email and migration. On our shared plans a free SSL certificate, daily backups, email accounts and free website migration are included, so there is nothing extra to add for a normal website.

Why the monthly price changes with the term

Hosting is billed for the whole term up front. The longer the term, the lower the monthly figure. Our plan tables show the monthly price and the amount billed for every term, so you can see both before you order. Pay for 3 years, get 6 months free.

Watch the renewal price

Some hosts advertise a low first-year price and renew at two or three times as much. Before you buy anywhere, find the renewal price for the same plan and term. If a host does not show it, ask.

What a typical small business site costs

A brochure website or a small WordPress site for an Indian business usually needs one shared hosting plan and one domain. Add the plan price for your chosen term, the domain, and GST on both, and you have your yearly cost. If you expect a lot of traffic or run an online store, look at a VPS instead of shared hosting.

Where people overspend

Buying a bigger plan than the site needs. Most new sites run well on the smallest plan and can move up later without downtime.
