Why Hostripples Dedicated Servers

Enterprise bare metal, fully yours

A dedicated server is the whole physical machine, not a slice of one. Every CPU core, every gigabyte of RAM and every byte of storage on the box is provisioned for you alone, so a noisy neighbour running a batch job at 2am never touches your response times. That single-tenant model is what makes bare metal the right call once a site, application or database has outgrown the shared resource pools of VPS hosting. Below is the hardware and access layer every Hostripples dedicated server is built on, before you get into which specific tier actually fits your workload.

Intel Xeon & AMD EPYC CPUs

Choose single or dual-CPU Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC processors sized to your workload. Entry configurations start around four to eight cores, and go up to dual-socket setups with dozens of cores for heavier, multi-threaded jobs.

DDR4 ECC Memory

Error-correcting DDR4 ECC RAM for stable operation under sustained load. ECC catches and corrects memory errors on the fly, which matters most for databases and long-running processes that can't afford silent data corruption.

NVMe & SATA Storage Options

NVMe SSD for performance or high-capacity SATA for storage, your choice. Pick NVMe when I/O speed drives your application, or SATA when you need many terabytes of capacity for backups, media or archives.

Full Root / IPMI Access

Complete root access plus out-of-band IPMI for total control over your server. IPMI gives you a remote console and power controls even if the operating system itself is unresponsive, so you're never locked out of your own hardware.

DDoS Protection Included

Always-on network DDoS protection guards your server against volumetric attacks. Traffic is filtered upstream before it reaches your server, so legitimate visitors keep getting through during an attack.

Managed & Self-Managed Options

Run it yourself or let our engineers manage setup, security and monitoring for you. Self-managed suits teams who already run their own stack; managed suits teams who'd rather hand off patching and monitoring entirely.

Choose Your Dedicated Server

Who needs a dedicated server?

Raw, single-tenant bare-metal power for demanding workloads.

If you're not sure whether you actually need a dedicated server, the honest answer usually comes down to two things: how predictable your traffic is, and how much you care about not sharing hardware with strangers. A VPS is virtualized capacity carved out of a shared host, fine for most sites until traffic gets spiky or a database starts competing for CPU and disk I/O with other tenants on the same box. A dedicated server removes that variable entirely, the CPU, RAM, NVMe and network port are yours, full stop. It costs more than a VPS for the same raw specs, so it's worth it once uptime, consistent latency or compliance genuinely depend on isolated hardware rather than hoping things stay fine most of the time.

High-traffic websites

All the CPU, RAM and NVMe of a whole server, with no neighbours to slow you down. Traffic spikes from a sale, a launch or a press mention don't get throttled by anyone else's workload.

Busy stores and applications

Consistent performance for heavy databases and traffic peaks. A dedicated server keeps checkout and query performance steady even when order volume triples overnight.

Game and media servers

Dedicated resources and low latency for real-time workloads. For most game hosting specifically, our purpose-built Game Servers add anti-DDoS tuned for player traffic on top of this same bare-metal foundation.

Agencies and enterprises

Full root control to run exactly the stack and security you need. Run multiple client environments, custom compliance requirements or a specific software stack without asking anyone's permission first.

Need GPU acceleration?

AI training, inference or rendering workloads want GPU Servers instead, the same dedicated foundation with NVIDIA acceleration added on top.

Storing large volumes of data?

If capacity matters more than raw CPU, our Storage Servers trade some compute for far larger SATA storage pools at a lower cost per terabyte.

Got Questions?

Dedicated Server FAQs

Bare metal, answered

Yes. A dedicated server is a single-tenant physical machine, not a virtual slice of one. All of its CPU, RAM, NVMe or SATA storage and network bandwidth are provisioned for you alone, nobody else's workload ever competes with yours for the same hardware. That gives you consistent, maximum performance, full root and IPMI-level control, and clean isolation for security and compliance, which is the main reason teams move off shared hosting or a VPS once traffic, data sensitivity or performance requirements get serious.
Both options are available. By default, dedicated servers are self-managed, you get full root and IPMI access and you're responsible for the OS, security patching and monitoring. If you'd rather not run that side yourself, our engineers can fully manage setup, security hardening, monitoring, updates and backups as a managed add-on, useful if your team doesn't have in-house sysadmin capacity or would rather spend that time on the application instead of the server.
Yes, on every tier. Root access lets you install, configure and remove anything at the operating system level, exactly like having physical hands on the machine. IPMI (sometimes called out-of-band or KVM access) is separate from the OS entirely, it's a remote console and power controls built into the hardware itself, so you can reboot, reinstall or troubleshoot a server even if it's completely unresponsive or you've locked yourself out over SSH. Together they mean nothing about the server is ever a black box to you.
It depends on the tier. Value Dedicated runs on Intel Xeon-D, a compact, power-efficient chip good for lighter web workloads. Starter Dedicated moves to AMD Ryzen 7/9 for higher single-core clock speed. Business and Enterprise step up to AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon, including multi-core configurations for heavier multi-tenant or database workloads. Premium Dedicated goes further with dual high-end CPUs for the most demanding builds. Game Servers use high-clock AMD Ryzen, since clock speed matters more than core count for most game servers, and GPU Servers pair AMD EPYC with NVIDIA GPU acceleration for AI and rendering work.
Yes, on every dedicated server, at no extra cost. Always-on network-level filtering sits in front of your server and absorbs common volumetric attacks before that traffic ever reaches your hardware, so legitimate visitors keep getting through while an attack is happening. It's included by default rather than sold as an add-on.
Our core dedicated server lineup, Value, Starter, Business and Storage, is hosted in India for low latency to a local audience. Higher-end tiers also offer additional international datacenters where it makes sense, Business, Enterprise and Premium Dedicated can be provisioned in locations across Canada, France, Germany, the UK and Poland depending on the plan, so you can put the server closer to your actual user base if most of your traffic isn't in India.
Yes. You can install the operating system and control panel that suit your workload, whether that's a standard Linux distribution with no panel at all, cPanel or Plesk for a more familiar management interface, or a Windows Server build if your stack needs it. Because you have full root access, you're not limited to a fixed image.
It's mostly about how much headroom you need and how mission-critical the workload is. Starter Dedicated (AMD Ryzen 7/9, 8-16 cores, 64-128 GB RAM, NVMe) suits a single serious website or application that's outgrown a VPS. Business Dedicated (AMD EPYC or Intel Xeon, 16-32 cores, up to 576 GB RAM, NVMe plus SAS storage) is built for busier applications, agencies running multiple client sites, or databases that need real headroom, it's our most commonly recommended tier for that reason. Enterprise Dedicated pushes further, up to 48 cores, up to 1.5 TB RAM and up to 25 Gbps of bandwidth, for workloads where scale itself is the requirement. Premium Dedicated sits at the top with dual high-end CPUs, up to 64 cores, up to 2 TB RAM and hot-swap NVMe on dual power supplies, aimed at builds where hardware-level redundancy matters as much as raw power.
Value Dedicated runs on Intel Xeon-D (4-8 cores, 32-64 GB RAM, 2x480 GB SSD), a compact and efficient configuration aimed at straightforward web hosting where cost predictability matters most. Starter Dedicated steps up to AMD Ryzen 7/9 (8-16 cores, 64-128 GB RAM, 2x960 GB NVMe), which suits workloads that need more headroom or NVMe-level storage speed. If you're just moving a single site off shared hosting or a small VPS, compare what CPU and RAM you're actually using today against both specs rather than picking on name alone.
If the workload is specifically a game server, pick Game Servers. They run high-clock AMD Ryzen CPUs, because most game server software is far more sensitive to single-core clock speed than core count, plus NVMe storage and anti-DDoS tuned for the kind of traffic patterns and attack profiles game servers actually see. A general dedicated tier will run a game server fine too, but you're paying for balance, many cores, large RAM, that a game workload typically doesn't use as efficiently as raw clock speed.
If your workload needs a GPU at all, AI or ML training and inference, video rendering, 3D workloads, or anything CUDA-accelerated, none of the standard CPU-only dedicated tiers will do the job, regardless of how much CPU or RAM you add. GPU Servers pair an AMD EPYC CPU with NVIDIA GPU acceleration, NVMe storage and 10 Gbps networking specifically for that class of workload. If you're not sure, the simple test is whether the software you're running actually uses CUDA or a GPU-accelerated framework, if yes, that's the tier to look at.
Storage Servers trade some CPU headroom for a lot more disk capacity, up to 500 TB of SATA storage on an Intel Xeon base with 32-128 GB RAM. They're the right call when the bottleneck in your setup is capacity rather than compute, backups, archives, media libraries, large file stores or anything where you're paying for terabytes you don't actually need to process quickly. If your workload is CPU or RAM-bound instead, one of the general dedicated tiers or Business Dedicated's NVMe-plus-SAS combination will suit you better.
A few honest signals: your VPS is regularly maxing out CPU or RAM even after you've optimised the application itself; you're seeing inconsistent response times that track with what other tenants on shared infrastructure might be doing, not your own traffic; your database performance depends on I/O throughput that a shared disk can't guarantee; or you have a compliance, security or audit requirement that specifically calls for isolated, single-tenant hardware. If none of that applies yet and your VPS just needs a bit more RAM, upgrading the VPS is usually the cheaper and simpler move, a dedicated server earns its cost once isolation and consistency become the actual requirement, not just more power for its own sake.
Size it to what you're already using, not what sounds impressive. Check your current VPS or shared hosting resource usage during peak traffic, most control panels or your host's dashboard will show CPU, RAM and disk I/O over time, and look for how often you're hitting the ceiling rather than the average. As a rough guide, our Value and Starter tiers (4-16 cores, 32-128 GB RAM) fit a single busy site or application; Business Dedicated (16-32 cores, up to 576 GB RAM) fits multiple sites, agencies or a database under real load; Enterprise and Premium (up to 48-64 cores, up to 1.5-2 TB RAM) are for workloads where scale or redundancy is the actual point. For storage, NVMe if I/O speed matters, SATA or a Storage Server tier if you mainly need capacity. When in doubt, talk to our team, we'd rather size it correctly than sell you more than you need.
Not necessarily, it depends on what 'small' actually means for your traffic and risk tolerance. If your site gets modest, steady traffic and a brief slowdown wouldn't really hurt the business, a VPS or shared plan is genuinely the more cost-effective choice. But if downtime or a slow checkout during a sale directly costs you revenue, or you're running a business application that needs consistent performance rather than average performance, even our smallest tier, Value Dedicated, buys you isolation a VPS can't match at a similar price point. It's less about company size and more about how much a bad hour actually costs you.
A single-CPU server puts all its cores on one processor socket; a dual-CPU (dual-socket) server splits capacity across two physical processors working together. Dual-CPU configurations, like Premium Dedicated's dual high-end CPUs, generally offer more total cores and memory channels, which suits heavily parallel or virtualisation-style workloads. For most single applications or databases, a well-specified single-CPU tier like Business or Enterprise Dedicated is simpler to manage and often plenty, dual-CPU tends to matter most once you're consolidating several demanding workloads onto one box.
It varies quite a bit: Value, Starter and Business Dedicated run on unmetered connections up to roughly 1-3 Gbps, while Enterprise and Premium scale up to 25 Gbps for workloads that genuinely push large volumes of traffic, think video delivery, backups replicating between sites, or high-throughput APIs. If your traffic is a normal website or application, the entry-level bandwidth tiers are rarely the bottleneck, CPU, RAM or disk I/O usually hit their limits first. Bandwidth headroom mostly matters once you're serving large files at scale or running infrastructure that talks to itself constantly.
NVMe is the right default for almost everything, it's dramatically faster for random reads and writes, which is what databases, WordPress sites and most applications actually do most of the time. SATA still earns its place when what you need is capacity rather than speed, large media libraries, backup targets, log archives, anything where you're storing far more data than you're actively querying. If that's your workload, our dedicated Storage Servers tier is built specifically around SATA capacity rather than trying to retrofit it onto a general-purpose plan.
If your workload sits between tiers, more RAM than Starter but not quite the full jump to Business, for example, talk to our team before assuming you have to over- or under-buy. Because these are physical machines built to order rather than templated virtual instances, there's often room to adjust CPU, RAM or storage within a given tier, or to get guidance on which listed configuration will actually cover your workload with the least waste.
Start with three questions. First, is this a specialised workload, gaming, GPU or AI, or bulk storage, if so go straight to Game, GPU or Storage Servers rather than a general tier. Second, how much CPU and RAM does your current setup actually use at peak, that points you toward Value or Starter for a single site, Business for busier or multi-site workloads, or Enterprise and Premium once scale or hardware redundancy itself is the requirement. Third, do you want to manage the server yourself or hand that off, which decides self-managed versus the managed add-on. Answer those three and you've narrowed nine tiers down to the one or two actually worth comparing in detail.
